Newsletter 7th September 2017

7th September 2017

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Welcome to the new school year. As the summer draws to a close we hope that everyone is returning to school with renewed energy after a lovely holiday. The summer brought us lovely long leisurely days and hopefully many precious memories with our families which we can draw on over the coming months.

It has been lovely meeting up again and so far everyone is setting in very well in these early days. Well done to everyone on an excellent start!

Our value for the month of September is Friendship. Our priority for the month will be helping children to become familiar with school/classroom procedures and expectations and establish a warm welcoming atmosphere in the school.

We are delighted to welcome so many new families and staff to our school and look forward to getting to know all the new personalities over the coming months. A very special welcome to our little Junior Infants  who are settling in really well with their teachers Yvonne and Shauna, sna’s Ann/Colette and Bernie. We also welcome a number of children joining our Senior Infants-Sixth and Outreach classes who have received a very warm welcome from their teachers and class mates.

It has been a busy Summer for the B.O.M. with the recruitment of seven new teaching staff! In addition to career breaks/job sharing we have had two new permanent posts sanctioned by DES due to an increase in our pupil numbers last year and revision in our allocation for learning support.  Over the summer we also received the news that Adrian was resigning his post to return to his teaching post in Oman, where he had taught previously. Adrian has been on the staff since 1998, our longest serving teacher! He has also been an assistant Principal with responsibility for Sports. He has left his own unique mark on the school through his warm personality, his teaching style which left a lasting impression on his pupils and his support and encouragement as a  colleague.  We wish him the very best of luck and happiness for the future.

We would also like to extend our best wishes to Fiona and Grainne who are on career break this year. Best of luck also to Edel who has left the school to take up a new post in Clondalkin. Edel has worked on the language/learning support team for the past few years. We would like to thank her for her huge commitment to the school and for sharing her love of soccer and many other talents so generously with staff and children.

We welcome Ann- Marie[Senior Infants], Yvonne[First class] ,Louise[outreach classes], Alanna[ subbing in fifth], Siobhan [sixth class]Claire[subbing in language support], Jenny[ subbing in language support], Susan[ sna subbing in outreach] . Best of luck to them and to all our staff as we begin the school year
