In Deirdre’s 3rd class, we were learning about traditions and rituals associated with Buddhist belief systems.

We looked at a video of monks creating a sand mandala. Mandala is the Sanskrit word for circle. It is a form of art coming from Hindu and Buddhist traditions. The mandala represents the universe. It can be used by people to help them reflect or mediate.

The children created their own mandala using techniques of weaving, collage, drawing and crochet.
