Newsletter November 9th 2017

9th November 2017

Dear Parents/ Guardians,

Hope you all had a lovely midterm break !  We have a busy few weeks ahead and in this newsletter we would to update you on what’s happening in the month of November.

Our value for the month is tolerance… we will be focussing in particular on promoting tolerance for each other’s differences. In our ethical core curriculum our world religion is Hinduism. Our assemblies will take place on November 30th and December 1st, led by Caroline’s third [Thursday] and Muireann’s 3rd [Friday].

Science Week

Next week November 12th-16th is national Science week. We have organised a number of activities to promote Science and raise awareness of its importance in our lives. We have organised a Science Week Invention Competition for children to complete at home. Please see poster attached. We hope with your encouragement that lots of children will get busy, using their imagination and creativity during these dark evenings to create their own inventions. Our plan is to create our own science museum in the school library at the end of the week and give everyone an opportunity to view the amazing inventions !!

We are aware that many of you … Parents/ friends in our school community  have careers in the field of Science and who may be willing to come in during the week to help us to celebrate Science week by sharing your expertise with some of our classes or with your child’s class  We would love to hear from you. Please contact Veronica at the school office if you think you can help.

Our second and fourth classes will have tag rugby this term with Robert Mullins  rugby Ireland and his assistant Aidan. We hope they have lots of fun.

We ask Parents/Guardians who are unable to attend on the designated dates to put a note in your child’s school journal and your child’s teacher will try to facilitate you at an alternative time.
